Condition Surveys
An accurate condition survey provides a precise account of the overall condition of the collection. This information may be used when applying for funding and grant applications.
A condition survey will record and analyse the overall condition of the historic building and/or collection and make general recommendations on actions that should be taken to minimise the risks uncovered by the initial survey.
The objective of the survey is to provide:
- A quantified assessment of the condition of the building and/or collections.
- Evidence of the causes of deterioration.
- The measures needed to slow or halt the process of decay.
- Recommend care of collection priorities.
Crick Smith will provide a written report based on the condition survey, along with a spreadsheet summary in hardcopy and electronic format, recording the following attributes:
- Description of conservation requirements for the building or collection.
- Notable Damage.
- Condition: graded as Good, Fair, Poor or Unacceptable.
